The Tetra ultraviolet clarifier works by exposing single celled algae to very high levels of ultraviolet light as the pond water containing them is pumped through the unit. The ultraviolet radiation not only kills the algae but causes it to clump together. These clumps can then be easily removed by your pond filter, water clarity is dependent upon the pond filter removing the dead algae.

Kills algae when all else fails
After we cut down a tree that shaded our fishpond, we had green water. We added an aerator, used algicide and clarifier chemicals, flushed it with fresh water, nothing worked. Three days after installing the UVC-5 the water was crystal clear and has stayed that way even in hot sunny weather.
Pros:It works perfectly and operating cost is less than the chemicals we were using.
Cons:Had to modify hoses to connect it.
