Floating Pond Deicer - Ice Chaser - Thermostatically Controlled (1250 Watts) - P-418
Easy to use; Just plug in your Floating Pond De-icer and float it on your pond dome side up. If your pond is already ice covered, drill a hole with an ice auger and place the Floating deicer over the hole. If the ice is only 1 or 2 inches thick, place the Floating Deicer on the ice and it will melt its way through. Do not chop through the ice in smaller ponds as the shock waves can damage or kill your fish. "Always keep safety your number one priority." Never walk on thin ice. Try to position your Floating deicer within arm's reach or shore to avoid walking on thin ice.
The Floating deicer is recommended for ponds up to 600 gallons. Please use two Floating Deicers for ponds over 600 gallons or for ponds requiring extra gas exchange due to excessive plant decay or large quantities of fish under the ice.
Full Manufacturers Instructions should be followed. This unit should be plugged into a GFCI outlet or device for safety.

Best floating deicer I have owned
Purchased this deicer over 8 years ago for my pond and it finally bit the bullet. Not bad at all considering the low cost to get 8 years from it. Im happy and being a pond owner for over 20 years this is one of the most reliable products that I have purchased for my pond. Works like a charm to keep a nice sized hole in the pond surface and keeps my babies alive year after year.

Floating Pond Deicer
I've used one of these for my small pond (500gall) ever since I had the pond installed (15 years ago) at the recommendation of my pond maintenance man.
Pros:Easy to use, doesn't detract from the pond's esthetic, does the job in most cases.
Cons:Some Chicago's winters can be brutal and sometimes there's no air hole around the deicer's perimeter. But - I do use an extension cord (not recommended for best results) and I don't protect it from the wind (recommended) - so that's on me.

Pond Deicer
Got deicer for backup haven't open box. I'm still using my old one and it's working great. Check out from 123Ponds very easy and shipping was very fast.
Pros:very reliable deicer.
Cons:It dose get build up from sitting in water all winter.

Floating Pond Deicer
***** This Deicer is very useful and durable. The last one I purchased lasted 4 years. It works very well over the winter to keep the fish from dying. My pond is very shallow about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2' deep and the deicer works perfectly.
